Call For Entry 2009

  •  Wellspring, a network of centres providing free emotional, informational and physical support to people and families living with cancer, www.wellspring.ca

QUILT DONATION GUIDELINES 2009

Please Read the Following Guidelines Carefully

To ensure that your quilt is included with our 2009 exhibition, please follow the guidelines as listed below:

  1. All quilts must have a finished ROD POCKET sewn to the back of the quilt along the top. The sleeve opening must be 6" wide after it is attached to the quilt, and must be attached in a way that it will not show when the quilt is hanging. The sleeve should be the full width of the quilt.
  2. All entries must have a FABRIC LABEL attached, minimum 6" x 6" to the bottom right corner of the quilt back. The label should include, (but is not restricted to), the following information as it appears on the Call For Entry: donor name, quilt title, participants, city/province/state, and quilt size. This information is the provenance of your quilt.
  3. Quilt categories are any size quilt from bed to wall quilts. The quilt must consist of 3 layers: a top, a back and batting.

    King (76" x 80") Twin (39" x 75")
    Queen (60" x 80") Crib (27" x 52")
    Double (54" x 75") Lap (36" x 48") approx.

    WALL HANGING OR FIBRE ART
    Designed to be hung for decorative purposes.

  4. Technique refers to: APPLIQUED PIECES are sewn to fabric by hand or machine to create design; PIECED PATCHES are cut and sewn back together to form design; WHOLE CLOTH DESIGN is formed by quilting only; EMBROIDERED DESIGN on top formed by embroidery and; PRE-PRINTED FABRIC DESIGN is printed on the fabric to look pieced or appliqued.
  5. All entries should include a PERSONAL STORY of 100 words or less to be included in the show guide and Web site. Your story must accompany this entry form. NOTE: Should you wish to have a longer story displayed with your quilt, please provide on a laminated 8.5" x 11" sheet. A photo may also be included on this page to accompany your story.
  6. You may include a favourite PHOTO for display with your quilt. Please mount the photo on an 8.5" x 11" laminated sheet. Regrettably we are unable to return photographs.

ALL ENTRY FORMS AND STORIES MUST BE RECEIVED IN OUR OFFICE BY NOVEMBER 30, 2008.
Entry forms received after November 30, 2008 will be included in our 2010 exhibition.

QUILTS ARE DUE IN OUR OFFICE NO LATER THAN JANUARY 15, 2009.
Quilts received after January 31, 2009 will be included in the 2010 exhibition.

Tax receipts for your quilt will be mailed to you by the end of February 2010.

Please Note: The Quilt Project reserves the right to limit the number of entries for the 2009 exhibition. Get your Call for Entry form in early.
